Do you KNOW your neighbour?

Have you caught some of their conversations at times and, perhaps, thought yourself the voyeur? Have you heard the yelling? Have you heard the crying? Any thoughts? Just stop for a moment NOW and reflect on those moments, those memories. What were you doing? What were you thinking? What did you do?

Do you know your neighbour?

Would you trust them in a moment of need? Would they trust you in a moment of need?

Do you have a roommate? What are they doing right now? Are they okay? When was the last time you went to your son, daughter, husband, wife, friend anyone and asked… ARE YOU OKAY?

As I type this, I’m in tears because I’ve realised that I don’t even do it. Not enough, at least. It frustrates me how fast we move and how little we give each other. It breaks my heart, damn it.

I care for others more than I care for myself and YES, I get it… where does one draw the line but answer yourselves this:

  • DO YOU KNOW YOUR NEIGHBOUR?
  • IS YOUR ROOMMATE OKAY?
  • WHAT IS YOUR DAUGHTER GOING THROUGH RIGHT NOW?
  • HOW IS YOUR SON HANDLING HIGHSCHOOL?
  • ARE YOU OKAY?
  • ARE THEY OKAY?

Just stop. Just stop. The next time you communicate with ANYONE. Even if it feels uncomfortable for you and/or if it is received with discomfort. I implore you ASK… ARE YOU OKAY?
